Using Twitter To Promote
Jul 8, 2009 3:55 pm by Paul HerHard economic time brings less people and traffic to you making you second guessing your advertising strategies. Don’t have to spend a dime if you don’t want to but how are you still going to drive traffic? How are you going to announce your next big thing without any advertisement?
Take advantage of what the World Wide Web has to offer, and that’s social networking among many other things. Specifically I’m talking about Twitter. There are other social networking sites out there that are available along with creating your own blog post and submitting your post to various sources that will promote your article and drive traffic but seriously, take full advantage of Twitter. It’s probably the single easiest way to increase traffic to your site. There's no guarantee in anything, but it will help somehow. All it takes is an easy account sign-up and 140 characters later, you’ll be “tweeting” in no time.
Break. (For those of you who are new to Twitter, it is a free social networking/micro-blogging service that allows users to send and read each others’ updates and status. You can post up to 140 characters on your status and have people that follow you get instance update. It’s easy to use and it’s used by almost every individual not living under a rock. So go ahead, sign up for an account today!). Back to work.
Once you create your Twitter account, start off by following people right away. Once you start following people, gain some attention, and update your status with useful information, people will eventually start to follow you.
Twitter isn’t exactly new to the web and a lot of individual think of it as a huge waste of time. Use it incorrectly and it will be the biggest waste of time in addition to being an amusement to you and your fans. Use it the right way, and you’ll be on your way to promoting your products, services, company, blog, new events and whatever you choose. It can be used as a great marketing tool and superb networking strategy for you and your business. Use it and promote it in a professional way and others will take notice and follow.
What should you tweet about? Everyone has their own unique way of tweeting. You can tweet about your current status, what you’re doing this very minute, what to look for in the coming days, new products and services, announcement, links to new offering on your site or links to useful information that comes across your way. Whatever it may be, this is where you hold the power to your own update. One thing you want to keep in mind is to offer good advice, supply useful information and you’ll continue to be followed by others and become “famous” in your group of followers.
One habit you want to break is that you don’t want is to continuously update your status with links to your own items. You need to split the time between what you offer and what you come across as useful information. Provide links and information to other sites you find useful and spread the good word. People like to share. Sharing is good and we were taught to share from a really young age so sharing useful information about other things that is happening around the world is a good thing. Sharing is caring.
In the end, Twitter is just another entertaining tool that you can have fun with while conducting business, connect to others, update your status and promote your services. The best part, it’s FREE and you’re in control to tweet about what you want, anything you want, at 140 characters at a time. For those 140 characters or less, you’re free.
Using Twitter could be as simple and easy as saying “money in the bank”. (Start saying that phrase on your way to your financial institute. It will make you happier!) So put away your pretty pennies and boot-up that computer, logon to Twitter and create a profile.
Small effort for a huge gain, don’t you think? Enjoy!
