Why You Need a Website
Sep 5, 2009 6:57 am by Matt HallerEven if you're not planning on selling online, a well-crafted site is an essential for any business. Many times we hear my business is very small, just me and a couple employees and our product really isn't sold online so why do I need a website?
This question is asked over and over again and is one of the most important and most frequently asked questions of the digital age.
So the answer is Yes, if you have a business, you need to have a website. Period. No question! Without A Doubt! In today's world a website is as important as a business card - maybe even more important.
Also, don't be so quick to dismiss your product as one that can't be sold online. There is very little now days that can't be sold over the internet. Millions of shoppers are now online, purchasing everything from books, to computers to cars and real estate...you name it you can buy it or someone is currently figuring out how to sell it online.
Now let me clarify one point for you...I am not saying you should put all your efforts into selling your wares online, but if your product lends itself to easy online sales, you better be considering it as your competitors are. The point here is that you need at the very minimum to have an online web presence...without it - it's like operating a business in the early 1980's without a phone number.
Now one more clarifying point a website can't just be any old web presence it must have a professional look if you want to be taken seriously. Many consumers now search for information online prior to making most purchases at a bricks and mortar store, so you need to have your website make a good first impression on your potential customer.
Keep in mind that one of the greatest things about the internet is that it has leveled the playing field when it comes to competing. Big or Small with a professional web presence and excellent customer service you can compete but without a web presence you can not.
