Social Media Helps You Provide Excellent Customer Service
Sep 21, 2009 2:26 pm by Matt HallerWe all hear the words “social media” every day; this is just one of the new buzz words. The overall number of businesses using social media to market their business grows rapidly each day. The goal for most of these businesses is trying to build relationships with their customers.
So beyond building these relationships, social media is letting people get to know you and your business but it really isn’t about selling its about providing customer service. Customer service is a continuous relationship with your customer throughout the entire process. If you want repeat business and referrals, than customer service is of upmost importance. So social media allows you to not only connect with new customers, but to also provide excellent customer service to your current customers.
So here are some online customer service tips:
Social media allows you to pay attention to what people are saying about your company. You can use Twitter search to search for your business and see what is being said about your company. Google your brand or company name and see what comes up. You can also turn on Google alerts as another way to keep track of what the internet is saying about you. There is no doubt that your customers are talking about you and you need to make sure you are staying on top of what they are saying. If there is negative information or reviews, try to get to the bottom of them and resolve the problem. You can learn a lot about what is or isn't working for your company or brand.
Be available - Give your customers multiple ways to contact you. Being readily available for your customers goes a long way in providing a great customer experience. Make sure to respond quickly to comments made on Twitter, Facebook, or your blog, and to check your accounts regularly.
Write FAQs - take some of your most frequently asked questions and answer them through pages on your website or posts on your blog. This gives you the chance to cover popular questions in one response. And if one customer is asking, then there are others out there who are also wondering.
These are just a few ways to give your customers great service. Social media just provides another avenue to expand your customer service program, and to help you build your business.
